2lb Chubby Dried Black Soldier Fly Larvae - MADE IN NORTH AMERICAN

Our Chubby Dried North American Grown Black Soldier Fly Larvae are raised, grown & dried in Quebec!

Chubby Dried Black Soldier Fly Larvae are comparable to dried mealworms, they may have a lower protein value, but make up for it, by packing in calcium. Research has shown that natural feed with balanced Ca:P ratios increases animal health and contributes to stronger bones and shiny feathers in birds. The balanced Ca:P ratios also make them the perfect treat for hedgehogs.

Calciworms are essential for laying birds such as chickens as a lack of calcium can result in poor laying, and soft shells and can cause behavior problems such as egg eating.
Feeding BSF Larvae as a treat is an excellent way to increase these vital nutrients and we can assure you, that they will soon become a favorite!

Black Soldier Fly Larvae have many branded names such as: Calci Worms®, Phoenix Worms®, Soldier Grubs®, Nutriworms®, Tasty Grubs®, FlyGrubs®, Grubblies®, but these are the larvae of the black soldier fly (Hermetia illucens), we'll just keep things simple and call them what they are :)

Chubby Mealworms

My chickens behave like these are potato chips. They go CRAZY for these. I give them a cupful just in the morning, and they know it, so even the shy ones will swarm over me, eat from my hands, and even try to dive into the bag after I open the lid on the can I keep them in.

Most importantly, though, when I started feeding these to my birds, their egg production went up significantly. In 2023 I had been getting almost no eggs for a year, even from my young birds. Of 17 chickens, I got 3 eggs/day on a good day. I switched to organic food and these chubby dried worms, and the NEXT DAY I had 9 eggs!!! I believe their previous food lacked protein. Now I have more new hens (along with a few older ones). I have 20 hens and get between 12-15 eggs/day.
