Chubby Mealworms
My chickens behave like these are potato chips. They go CRAZY for these. I give them a cupful just in the morning, and they know it, so even the shy ones will swarm over me, eat from my hands, and even try to dive into the bag after I open the lid on the can I keep them in.
Most importantly, though, when I started feeding these to my birds, their egg production went up significantly. In 2023 I had been getting almost no eggs for a year, even from my young birds. Of 17 chickens, I got 3 eggs/day on a good day. I switched to organic food and these chubby dried worms, and the NEXT DAY I had 9 eggs!!! I believe their previous food lacked protein. Now I have more new hens (along with a few older ones). I have 20 hens and get between 12-15 eggs/day.
