6lb Chubby Mix (Mealworm & Black Soldier Fly Larvae Combo)

We are mixing it up here at Chubby with a combination of our great tasting Mealworms and our new Black Soldier Fly Larvae.
This mix is sure to enrich your pet's (or wild bird's) diet giving them a boost of Protein and Calcium in one handy mixed bag.

We all know why our pets love our great tasting Mealworms, but what about our new Black Soldier Fly Larvae?

Chubby Dried Black Soldier Fly Larvae are comparable to dried mealworms but have a much higher nutritional value. They have 23 to 61 times more calcium than other commonly fed feeder insects and naturally feature a well balanced calcium-phosphorus ratio. Research has shown that natural feed with balanced Ca:P ratios increases animal health and contributes to stronger bones and shiny feathers

Calcium is especially important for laying birds such as chickens. Lack of calcium can result in poor laying, soft shells and can cause behaviour problems such as egg eating as the chicken tries to recoup the much needed calcium. Feeding Black Soldier Fly Larvae as a treat is an excellent way to increase these vital nutrients and we can assure you, they will soon become a favorite!

Despite carrying a somewhat aggressive sounding name, they are harmless and wen alive do not bite. During its larva phase, which lasts a few weeks, it feeds off various kinds of organic material, converting this to proteins. The adult fly is able to entirely live off the nutritional reserves it had built up as a larva. This is why Dried Black Soldier Fly Larvae have such a high nutritional value.

A whole variety of animals love the natural goodness in all our 'Chubby' products including wild birds, reptiles, fish, hedgehogs, budgies, sugar gliders and many more. Although you can buy live Black Soldier Fly Larvae, dried Black Soldier Fly Larvae are just as good with the added benefit of easy and long lasting storage. Dried Black Soldier Fly Larvae are also a lot better for anyone that is squeamish!

Chickens go Wild

My chickens go wild when they see me coming with a scope of mealworms.

Our little flock loves them

Our 4 ladies love the Chubby mix and it sure seems to help with their molt as well as egg production

Great as Always

Shipping is fast, the mealworms are affordable and great quality, and our chickens absolutely love them. Like, a scary amount. As in, if I carry a handful of Chubby's mealworms out to the coop, my life is in imminent danger. Nothing but thumbs and talons up from us for Chubby's!

Mealworm Quality

The bluebirds love the product and that, after all, is the most important and positive assessment.

Guineas and hens love them

And I love happy chickies
